Sunshine Village is included on the Ski Banff lift pass. It claims to have the best snow in the Canadian Rockies and while we were staying it certainly had the most snow of any of the other two resorts on the Ski Banff lift pass (Banff Mount Norquay and Lake Louise). In the average season Sunshine Village receives 33 feet of snow, in fact so much snow they do not need any snow cannon. Sunshine has the longest vertical drop in the Canadian Rockies of 3514 feet from the top of Lookout Mountain down to the gondola base area. With the opening of Goats Eye Mountain and Delirium Dive off the back side of Lookout Mountain it also claims some of the steepest terrain and double black diamonds in the Canadian Rockies. On the lift front Sunshine Village has 1 high speed six man gondola, 3 high speed quad chair lifts, 1 triple chair, 3 double chairs, 2 T-bars and 2 beginner drag lifts. The main lift queues form at the bottom of the gondola that gives access to all the other lifts. For people new to the ski area, in common with the other two ski areas in Banff, the resort provides Ski Hosts to guide skiers and snowboarders of intermediate or above standard around the resort.
I found that the Sunshine Village ski area was a great place to ski. While we were here they had a lot of snow and I really enjoyed playing in all the powder. The only problem with all the snow falling was that often visibility was not too good and sometimes, particularly on Goats Eye Mountain where it was very exposed, it was difficult to find the runs down.
